A Round-up of Tiree's Best Beaches: The 'Alternative Beach Experience'

A Round-up of Tiree's Best Beaches: The 'Alternative Beach Experience'

The Isle of Tiree, nestled in the Inner Hebrides island is renowned for its amazing beaches which it has in both quality and quantity- the holy grail for beach seekers. What's more you will most likely have many of the beaches to yourself, even in the Summer months...what a treat!

In my round up of the best beaches on the island I thought it would be best to start off with a new discovery, made this Summer. At the eastern end of the island, near Caolas is a wonderful if weird beach. I've nicknamed it 'Shrek Beach', and you'll see why. When we arrived the tide was out exposing a multitude of rocks dripping in curly, green seaweed. I've never seen such a vivid green before- the rocks looked seasick. A very bizarre beach, but with amazing views across Gunna sound-the channel that divides the Isle of Tiree from its sister island: the Isle of Coll. We could see Coll's creamy coloured beaches glowing in the sun as we gazed across.

So if you're after a slightly wacky beach, and you're a fan of green then I'd head here!
