Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in the outdoors-exploring beautiful places from gardens to secluded beaches both in the UK & abroad. Click on to explore more of my photo stories...
Hello, and welcome to my little corner of the internet- a space for exploring the world’s natural beauty and wonder.
I’m Sarah; a 24 year-old grad working in London in the environmental sector! Over the years I’ve found that for myself personally, writing & photography are two of the best tonics- being immersed in trying to capture a scene via a lens, whether that be an inquisitive seal or an empty beach is a challenge I just can’t get enough of.
During those moments, when I’m out exploring, camera in hand, I feel at my most creative and my most confident- my mind is washed of all worries and other thoughts. My prime focus is doing justice to the amazing places I am experiencing.
I'm not really fussed about the technicalities of photography- they are important but I don't obsess over them- I strongly believe that the creative vision is what it's important.
What am I passionate about?
Dogs, nature, hiking, kayaking, photography, yoga, music, travel and the colour blue to name but a few. Anything that gets me in the outdoors is always a plus!
Photography details:
I use a Nikon D5100 and a 18-200mm f/ 3.5-5.6 lens or a Macro 105mm lens-this is the only kit I shoot with at the moment and sometimes a tripod, although I prefer to go hand-held, as it gives me so much more freedom! In fact I've only ever used a tripod a handful of times- I find them so fiddly and they minimise the spontaneity of photography, in my personal experience.
I try to keep post-editing of my photos to a minimum as I prefer to leave them as natural as possible.
For me editing is like good make-up, it is about enhancing the natural beauty with subtlety and careful application. My philosophy is that our planet is wonderful enough without excessive saturation and contrast! However, I appreciate others may disagree and post processing/editing can be an expressive art form..it’s all down to personal taste!
Please do get in contact with me if you have any questions, or would like to chat…I’d love to hear from you..
