The Best of Kent & Sussex: Chapter 7: Sussex Prairie Gardens
This garden is really refreshing to visit. It breaks the mould from most English gardens which typically have formal borders and traditional flowers such as roses. These can of course be very visually pleasing but this garden adopts a less common horticultural approach which is more free and loose in its outlook. Here the borders flow seamlessly in large curves merging into one another. This creates a very soft aesthetic and is more interactive as visitors are encouraged to wander within the borders and get up close to the plants rather than merely be a passive spectator.Walking amongst the vibrant echinicea and swathes of tall grass as they ripple in the wind creates a really calming environment whilst simultaneously bringing the garden to life with a natural energy. All in all this is a really quirky garden drawing on American influences creating a fun but soothing ambience.Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
