Watersmeet
Watersmeet is one of those special places which possesses a magical quality. As a child I visited the national trust site many times whilst on holiday in Devon, and there is something about the mix of water and woodiness which I really love.It actually rather reminds me of a toilken-esque landscape with similarities to the mythical ryvendale! My favourite time to visit is in early Autumn as the leaves start to turn but after a heavy rainfall is also a good time to see the river at its fullest and most impressive. The drive down to this spot is also very picturesque and offers a diverse panorama of scenery with the prehistoric-looking Valley of the Rocks, the coastal stretch of Woody Bay and the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth to explore along the way.Watersmeet will always hold a spot dear to my heart.
