Finding Some Unexpected Friends…

Heading down onto the pebbly beach at the Oa Peninsula, I was keen to capture some close-up shots of the cliff face in the golden light. The rocks were glowing orange, and the cliff face appeared rippled with cracks and bumps.

Peering through my viewfinder, absorbed in the gorgeous scene unfolding before me, I was suddenly distinctly aware of the feeling of being watched. Even more unsettling was the muffled sound of grunting.

After a proper look, I realised that there were 3 wild goats, camouflaged perfectly against the tapestry of brown and orange hues. I hadn’t even noticed them, but there they were teetering on the edge of the cliff as shocked to see me as I was them.

I must have spent about 20 mins just watching the goats and them watching me, then they eventually got moving, climbing higher up. It’s always the unexpected things that make for the best memories and in this case some of my favourite photos of the whole trip.
